By-Pass Filters: AMSOIL vs FS-2500

Filtration Efficiency
FS-2500; Filters out particles down to 2.78 microns.
AMSOIL; Filters out particles down to LESS than 1 micron.

Change Interval/Longevity:
FS-2500; Change filter element every 10,000 miles.
AMSOIL; Change By-Pass filter every 25,000 miles or 1 year, which ever occurs first.

Servicing:
FS-2500; Time consuming/messy multi-step procedure includes: disassembling unit, cleaning unit, installing new o-ring, installing new bolt seal, installing new filter element, reassembling unit, etc.
AMSOIL; Loosen used "Spin-On" By-Pass Filter using strap type filter wrench, then same procedure as full-flow filter; spin off used, [if vertically mounted fill new filter with oil], apply thin film of oil on gasket, spin on, tighten, DONE! [NOTE: When servicing any filter, ALWAYS top-off oil, start engine & check for leaks/proper sealing BEFORE driving vehicle!!] [AMSOIL By-Pass Filtration Systems also recommended for Automatic Transmission Fluid filtration on Transmissions which have external filters.]
