The California Integrated Waste Management Board is taking the lead in a campain to educate diivers on the 3000-mile oil chang fallacy. Many cars today can go longer between oil changes without affecting engine wear. Automakers are regularly recommending oil changes at 5,000, 7,000 or even 10,000 miles based on driving conditions.
