In 1992 I was working for County Government in West Texas as their fleet manager; I was in charge of maintaining over 200 vehicles from lawn mowers to bulldozers. The sheriff came to me one day and ask if I had ever used any AMSOIL lubricants, I told him I had never heard of AMSOIL, the sheriff had talked with someone that was telling him how good the oil was and asked me to look into AMSOIL lubricants. He also suggested that if I thought AMSOIL lubricants would work he would like to use them in his Sheriff cars. I checked out AMSOIL products the best I could and we decided to try some in 6 units, we monitored these cars doing used oil analysis. We found out that we could safely extend our drain intervals from 3 thousand miles to 9 thousand miles. I had a mixed fleet of gas and diesel engines, so I was using the AME 15W40 oil in both gas and diesel engines. Back then AMSOIL did not offer the high quality filtration we offer today. I kept close track of these vehicles that were using AMSOIL. At one time a few years later we had accumulated more than six million miles on police cars with no lubricant related frailer. We noticed soon after we started using AMSOIL in our automatic transmissions that we had hardly any transmission failures.
AMSOIL did offer by-pass filtration at that time, I did install some of these filters on both gas and diesel engines. I proved to myself that you could eliminate draining the crankcase by servicing these filters and doing used oil analysis on a regular basis.
I retired from this position in 1999, but this fleet is still using AMSOIL lubricants and filters today.
