Advanced Media Technology Cellulose and blended medias found in most oil filters have larger fibers than the synthetic nanofibers found in the AMSOIL EaO Filters. They also have larger spaces between their fibers. This causes contaminants to load in the depth of the media and plug the oil-flow path, resulting in higher restriction and less capacity. The smaller fibers in synthetic media also have a controlled size and shape. This results in greater efficiency and capacity than cellulose filters, as well as better durability. AMSOIL Ea Oil Filters provide a higher level of engine protection, as well as extended filter change intervals. Oil Filtration Basics Clean oil is vital to engine performance and durability. Oil must lubricate, cool and clean the engine as it circulates. In order to remain effective it must be filtered as it cycles. The filter is connected to the engine sump, which contains the oil pump. Full-flow filters pass all the oil output from the pump through the filter. The function of the oil filter is to remove the contaminants introduced into the lubricating oil and prevent them from reaching sensitive engine parts without restricting normal oil flow to the various points requiring lubrication. Internal sources of contamination include wear products from the rubbing surfaces of the engine, blow-by gases leaking past the rings of the pistons and degradation of the oil itself. A filter must perform well in the areas of efficiency, capacity, flow and life. Absolute Efficiency Efficiency is the filter’s ability to capture contaminants. The more efficient a filter is, the more contaminants it will remove from the oil. To make a filter more efficient the spaces between the fibers in the media are made smaller, creating more resistance and limiting the oil’s ability to flow through the filter. THE NEW HOME OF GOSYNTHETICOIL.NET *The National Geographic series "Explorer" on the National Geographic Channel aired the new show called "Secrets of the Tornado" on Sunday evening, September 18th. The show featured the research/probe deployment work of AMSOIL sponsored storm chaser Tim Samaras and his colleagues over the past couple of years. My name is Tim Samaras, and I chase the most powerful storms on the planet. My passion and research is to intercept tornadoes in progress and deploy small probes directly in their path to record the extreme weather conditions inside the tornado core. Last year our team measured the largest barometric pressure drop ever recorded on June 24, 2003 of over 100 millibars as it destroyed the small hamlet of Manchester, South Dakota. The data has revealed several “secrets” of the inside of a violent tornado. I’m also featured in the April 2004 issue of National Geographic magazine, where a photographer was with me during the deployments and has captured some of the most astounding tornado images ever on film. Every year my pursuit takes me to the great plains where I journey over 35,000 miles over 12 states within a period of two months. Using a petroleum-based motor oil, I used to change my motor oil every couple of days! Based upon these frequent changes, I decided to switch to AMSOIL synthetic motor oil, where I have extended my oil changes to over 7,500 miles! My vehicle has already seen some incredible abuse so far this year with over 15 tornadoes intercepted, where I’ve only had to change the oil three times, as my vehicle has already accumulated over 24,000 miles in May alone! Tim Samaras June 2004 Mark Chalkley is a semi-retired computer programmer who also is a heavy equipment operator. His knowledge of heavy equipment allows him to frequently offer advice on TractorNet, an informational Website for agricultural equipment users. Chalkley often tells people about his experiences with AMSOIL. And those experiences have been quite remarkable. Chalkley owns several vehicles and pieces of equipment that have benefitted from his use of AMSOIL products. He uses a 1993 Dodge pickup truck with a Cummins engine to haul loads of more than 25,000 pounds. He also has a 1997 Ford Contour and an earth mover back hoe. I use AMSOIL in everything, Chalkley said. I have never worn out anything that has had AMSOIL in it. He put AMSOIL Series 3000 5W-30 Heavy Duty Diesel Oil in his 1996 Volkswagon Passat at about 10,000 miles, and put AMSOIL 75W-90 Gear Lube in the transmission shortly after. The Passat now has over 278,000 miles on it and its still running the same gear lube. Chalkley changes his motor oil in the Passat at 50,000 mile drain intervals. Theres no by-pass kit on it either, he said, and Ive never had a problem. Not a one. (Editors Note: AMSOIL recommends a drain interval for the Series 3000 5W-30 Heavy Duty Diesel Oil that is up to two times longer than manufacturers recommendations in passenger vehicles with diesel engines if extended drain intervals are supported by the findings of a used oil analysis program, or six months, whichever comes first.) Chalkley adds nearly a quart of oil every 4,500 miles, and has noticed that oil consumption hasnt changed in the six-year-old car at all since he switched to AMSOIL. In fact, oil consumption actually improved since that time. Its not burning any oil, he said. his is my seventh car/truck that used AMSOIL products. I purchased my first diesel on March 11, 2001. The Ford Excursion had 4,727 miles on April 21, 2001 when the following fluids were changed to AMSOIL. Engine changed to HDD Series 3000 5W-30 Transmission and transfer case changed to ATF Rear Differential changed to Series 2000 SAE 75W - 140 Front Differential changed to SAE 80W-90 BK-16 By-Pass oil filter added to truck This SUV engine has a 100,000 mile warranty from Ford. The engine oil has been analyzed every 10,000 miles since it was new and now has more than 98,000 miles on one oil change using the BK 16 By-pass filter system, without any problems. In the last year, I have traveled over 40,000 trouble free miles, thanks to AMSOIL, and have towed a 8 1/2 X 34 foot travel trailer 10,000 miles during this time period. On February 2, 2004, the PSD completed its first 100,000 miles looking forward to second 100,000. The engine does not have any white, blue or black smoke and no engine or transmission repairs in the first 100,000 miles. -Ken Pugh
